Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to your deepest inquiries about Woven Thoughts

Woven Thoughts is a conceptual horror MMO set in a world where human thoughts can manifest as dangerous entities. Hundreds of years after an event called 'The Unweaving' infiltrated humanity's collective unconscious, abstract concepts have gained physical form as predatory, parasitic entities.

Players navigate a hostile landscape called 'The Manifestation' while managing their character's conceptual exposure and mental stability. In this world, thinking the wrong thought can literally create a horror that hunts you.

Woven Thoughts is currently in pre-alpha development. The estimated timeline projects an alpha release around August 2027, with ongoing development and refinement afterwards. As a solo development project, this timeline is subject to change.

The initial development focus is on Windows PC. Support for other platforms may be considered after the primary development goals are met.

Full system requirements have not been finalized as the game is still in early development. Woven Thoughts is being built with a custom Vulkan-based engine that will focus on optimized performance, but will likely require a modern gaming PC with a dedicated graphics card that supports Vulkan.

Woven Thoughts stands apart from traditional MMOs in several key ways:

• Thought-based mechanics: Player thoughts and perceptions directly influence the game world and spawn unique threats

• Psychological horror focus: Emphasis on mental stability mechanics rather than just physical combat

• Non-predatory design: Built without exploitative monetization systems or 'gotcha' mechanics

• Custom technology: Developed with a purpose-built engine specifically designed for conceptual horror experiences

• Dynamic environments: Areas that shift and change based on collective player perception and mental states

The business model has not been finalized. However, the game is being designed with a focus on fair monetization. The developer has explicitly stated a goal to avoid predatory practices commonly found in modern MMOs.

Woven Thoughts is being developed by a very small team, a small team that is passionate about creating innovative horror experiences and breaking away from predatory MMO design patterns.

The Manifestation is the hostile, ever-shifting landscape that makes up most of the game world. It's where human thoughts take monstrous physical form, ideas hunt their thinkers, and memories transform into predatory entities. The Manifestation includes areas like the Phobia Thicket, the Identity Pits, Memory Abattoirs, the Grief Ocean, and the Trauma Spires.

Safe Havens are the few remaining fortified enclaves where humanity survives. In these areas, thought is carefully monitored and regulated to prevent dangerous manifestations. Known havens include Null (using dampening technology), The Blank Commune (practicing radical thought minimalism), and Mnemonic Bunkers (where memories are stored externally for protection).

Woven Thoughts features several factions with different approaches to survival in this thought-corrupted world:

• The Mind Weavers: Authoritarian enforcers who execute those showing signs of dangerous ideation

• The Hollow: Humans who have had portions of their minds consumed and serve as hosts for conceptual parasites

• The Willing Vessels: Cult that believes surrendering to conceptual entities is the path to transcendence

• The Blank Slates: Those who have undergone voluntary memory wiping for protection

• The Deep Dreamers: Secret society attempting to infiltrate and control the collective unconscious

Stitched Ones are individuals who have undergone a process that suppresses their adult consciousness, returning them to a child-like state to protect them from the horrors of the world. The stitching process isn't permanent - the suppressed adult consciousness eventually tries to emerge, causing a painful 'Unraveling' that most don't survive. Players may encounter Stitched Ones during their journey and can potentially play as one.

Woven Thoughts is designed to support both solo and group play. While some content and challenges will be enhanced by cooperation with other players, the core experience will be accessible to solo players. The mental stability mechanics and conceptual manifestation systems work in both contexts.

Currently, the best way to support development is to join the beta waiting list to stay informed about progress. As development advances, there may be opportunities for testing and providing feedback. Additional support options may be announced in the future.

Yes, Woven Thoughts will feature extensive character customization, including both appearance and conceptual characteristics that affect how your character perceives and interacts with the manifested world. Development of the character creation system is scheduled to begin in September 2026.

The Conceptual Manifestation Engine (CME) is the core technical system that powers the game's unique horror mechanics. It handles real-time thought entity spawning, dynamic difficulty scaling based on player conceptual resistance, and procedurally generated thought-horror encounters. This proprietary system is being built specifically for Woven Thoughts' unique gameplay requirements.
