About Woven Thoughts

A conceptual horror MMO where thoughts manifest as reality

The World

Hundreds of years ago, an event called The unweaving occurred when something alien infiltrated humanity's collective unconscious. This entity began transforming human thoughts into predatory, parasitic entities that feed on human minds, memories, and identities.

In this nightmare world, thinking the wrong thought can create something terrible. Memories can be stolen, leaving hollowed-out shells of people behind. Entire identities can be consumed and worn like skins by concept-parasites.

"I feel the threads pulling loose at night. Little by little, the nightmares seep through. They say it's just the Unraveling, that I'll be whole again when the last thread tears. But I've seen the empty shells at the Merry-Go-Round. I know what happens when your mind fractures all at once."

The Setting

Humanity survives in heavily fortified enclaves where thought is carefully monitored and regulated. Outside these havens lies "The Manifestation" - a hostile, ever-shifting landscape of horrors born from the collective unconscious.

The Manifestation

Explore dangerous territories like the Phobia Thicket, where every tree represents a specific fear, the Identity Pits where your sense of self is stripped away, and the Memory Abattoirs where parasites process stolen memories.

Safe Havens

Seek refuge in places like Null, where dampening technology suppresses thought manifestation, The Blank Commune, where practitioners of radical thought minimalism avoid creating new horrors, or Mnemonic Bunkers where essential memories are stored externally.

Factions

Align with or fight against groups like the authoritarian mind weavers, the Hollow who serve as hosts for conceptual parasites, the Willing Vessels who believe surrender is transcendence, or the Deep Dreamers infiltrating the collective unconscious.

Terrifying Landscapes

Venture through the Grief Ocean, a vast dark sea of liquid sorrow where drowning means eternal reliving of your worst losses, or the Trauma Spires, towering monoliths formed from calcified pain that broadcast psychic echoes.

Technical Features

Woven Thoughts is being built on a custom C++ engine with several innovative systems to create an unparalleled horror experience:

Conceptual Manifestation Engine

A real-time system that transforms player thoughts into physical entities, with dynamic difficulty scaling based on conceptual resistance and procedurally generated thought-horror encounters.

Perception Management

Mental stability mechanics with multi-tier degradation, thought filtering and suppression abilities, and conceptual exposure tracking to manage your character's psychological state.

Psychoacoustic Engine

Spatial audio with reality distortion filters, dynamic mixing based on player mental stability, and a subconscious whispering system tied to proximity of threats and conceptual density.

Thought Synchronization

A unique networking protocol that handles the synchronization of conceptual data between players, allowing for shared thought manifestations and cross-player thought contamination.

Lead Developer

Working on things from the custom C++ Vulkan-based engine to the intricate thought manifestation systems, Alex is passionate about creating a new mmo horror experience.

"I play alot of mmos, but all the new mmos seem to just be wrappers around gotcha systems, I want to make an original mmo that doesnt feel predatory to the players wallet."
